Pulse Survey Results: What L&D Can Learn From Corporate Learners During COVID-19

This is just a taste of the encouragement we saw from employees about learning during the pandemic, and learning online, from our pulse survey of 750 US-based employees at organizations larger than 500 people:

Advice to L&D departments from real learners, April 2020:

They should encourage more online classes in general, pandemic or no pandemic, because this will help all employees succeed in their work.

Go all online and provide resources for employees.

To keep things simple. Some of the trainings have been too long and make it hard to do the training and get my work done.

This is a good time to think outside the box and launch new courses that we ordinarily would not have.

There were only 2 comments, out of the whole batch, that said ‘I don’t want to learn during the pandemic.’ Everyone else saw opportunity here to make use of downtime, remain flexible and proactive in the now, plan for the future, and continue to grow and help their businesses.

We are pleased to share three infographics with you, with key takeaways from the survey depending on what aspect of corporate L&D you are a part of:

Training Firms

Executive Education

Corporate L&D

Questions asked in the survey:

  • Has your learning & development department communicated with you about changes to your employee learning options since the coronavirus pandemic began?

    •  If yes, what has changed?
    • If yes, what topics have been offered to you in the last month?
  • What do you feel is the most important topic your organization could be offering you training about right now?
  • What advice would you give to your organization’s Learning & Development department about responding to the pandemic?

You can also download our 2020 High-Stakes Learning Survey Executive Summary, which is a more in-depth survey of 1,000 learners about the training topics they see as most important to business success, corporate L&D culture, and more.
